There is a unique and undeniable link between depression, mental health and suicide. Therefore, effective mental health education IS suicide prevention - particularly depression education. Learn about the signs and symptoms of depression and suicide, as well as how you can help. Find out how our Tier 1 programs for 4th -12th grades, and all additional resources, support schools in providing evidence-informed mental health education and help-seeking skills for all students. These no-cost programs raise awareness about youth depression.

Learning Objectives:

  1. At the end of the session, attendees will have an understanding of the current state of youth mental health and recognize the signs and symptoms of depression and suicide.

  2. At the end of the session, attendees will be able to explain the importance of early identification & intervention and will be able to identify how to access all free, tier-1, programs and resources for educators, students and families.

  3. At the end of the session, attendees will be able to describe how to improve school based mental health education by tailoring a program to best fit their school’s needs including classroom education, family engagement, teen empowerment, and staff training.
